Production on Season Five of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is on hold as police in Utah investigate domestic violence allegations involving star Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen, People reports.
Details about the incident remain unclear, but the Draper City, Utah police department confirmed that there is an open “domestic assault investigation” involving Paul and Mortensen. A spokesperson for the police added that “allegations have been made in both directions,” and that both parties were contacted in late February.
Per Variety, the alleged incident took place while production for the hit reality series was ongoing, but not while the cameras were actually rolling. One source claimed that the halt in production is only temporary, and that shooting will resume soon.
Reps for Paul and Hulu did not immediately return requests for comment, nor did the Draper City PD.
Paul and Mortensen’s tumultuous on-again, off-again relationship has been the focal point of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives since the show debuted in 2024. The pair, who have a son together, began dating not long after Paul split with her ex-husband following the #MomTok soft-swinging scandal that preceded the show.
In 2023, Paul was arrested after allegedly choking, striking, and throwing stools at Mortensen, with one of the stools allegedly hitting her daughter from a previous relationship. She wound up pleading guilty to a count of aggravated assault, while other charges were dismissed.
The most recent season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives (which just premiered this month) notably ended with Paul and Mortensen spending the night together right before Paul went off to film Season 22 of The Bachelorette. Paul’s run on that show is set to debut March 22 on ABC.
