Samuel L. Jackson goes from the MCU to the Tulsa King universe in the new trailer for the crime drama’s third season. His character, Russell Lee Washington Jr., will be the lead in the upcoming spinoff NOLA King. Jackson shows up alongside the original show’s star, Sylvester Stallone, at the end of the trailer.
The season, which debuts Sept. 21 on Paramount+, also features a new villain, the fearsome Jeremiah Dunmire, played by Robert Patrick (who’s also currently featured on the second season of Peacemaker). Kevin Pollak plays another new character, an F.B.I. agent who tells Stallone, “I own you” in the trailer.
Tulsa King, created by Taylor Sheridan and Terence Winter, stars Sylvester Stallone as Dwight “The General” Manfredi, a New York mob captain who finds himself banished to Tulsa, Oklahoma after serving a 25-year prison sentence. In Season One, Manfredi builds a team of unlikely local allies to build his own operation. In the upcoming season, Manfredi brings his empire into the distillery business, and draws the attention of the Dunmires, a wealthy local family. The show has also been renewed for a fourth season.
Meanwhile, NOLA King is expected to begin production next year. According to the announcement of that show, Jackson’s character “is sent to Tulsa by New York’s Renzetti crime family to take Dwight out once and for all. Inspired by what Dwight created in Tulsa and impressed with the possibilities of second chances, Washington returns to New Orleans… to take control of the city he left behind.”
