Your favorite platonic besties are back. Today, Apple TV+‘s comedy Platonic shared its new trailer for upcoming Season Two.
In the show’s new season, Will (Seth Rogen) and Sylvia (Rose Byrne) are still platonic best friends, but the pair’s decades-long, boisterous dynamic is threatened as Will enters a relationship. “Will and I always get screwy when he’s in a couple,” Sylvia tells her husband Charlie in the trailer.
Both Will and Sylvia are determined to not let that happen this time — but first, they must grow up a little. “If we want to stay friends this time, then we’re going to have to do normal adult stuff, like couple’s dinners and stuff like that,” Sylvia implores Will. The challenge sets off a course of events, including weddings and golf lessons gone wrong that will no double bring plenty of laugh-out-loud moments for Season Two.
Platonic was co-created, directed and co-written by Nicholas Stoller and Francesca Delbanco, and both Rogen and Byrne serve as executive producers on the show. The cast is rounded out by Luke Macfarlane and Carla Gallo with Season Two featuring a handful of fun guest stars, including Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney, Beck Bennett and Milo Manheim. The 10-episode sophomore season will premiere globally on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 with the first two episodes, followed by one episode weekly until October 1, 2025.
Previously, Rogen and Byrne worked with Stoller on 2014 frat-boy comedy Neighbors and its 2016 follow-up Neighbors 2. “I started doing comedy with Stoller because he gave me a chance,” Byrne told Rolling Stone in 2023 when Platonic first premiered. “And I felt excited to be able to have this format to sort of tell this friendship unfolding in these arcs of Sylvia and Will,” she added.
At the time, Rogen shared his own thoughts about what themes to fold into the format of Platonic. “We put a lot of effort into making something that is outwardly comedic and not bogged down by ideas and themes that hurt a truly fun and joyous experience,” he told Rolling Stone.
