Whether you like it or not, Donald Trump is a pop culture staple, declared Stephen Colbert during his Tuesday monologue on The Late Show.

When discussing a House Republican proposal to rename the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts after President Donald Trump, Colbert mockingly defended the bill by arguing, “Trump is a patron of the arts and a staple of the pop culture landscape.”

“I’m sorry, but it’s true. Trump is a staple of pop culture,” Colbert reiterated, before adding: “Just last week, he was great on South Park. Amazing. So free and open with his body.”

The host referenced last week’s South Park premiere, which attacked the president’s “teeny tiny” manhood and depicted him as literally in bed with the devil. The episode arrived after CBS‘ abrupt decision to end The Late Show in 2026. While the network claimed the cancellation was financial, it drew backlash, since the announcement came days after Colbert slammed Paramount, which owns both CBS and Comedy Central, over its decision to agree to a settlement with Trump.

On Tuesday, Colbert segued the South Park mention to joke, “You know what they say about those who forget the past? They name stuff after Donald Trump.” The host proposed: “So let’s just rip the band aid off and rename everything. The Washington Monument will become ‘My Big Pointy Penis,’ and the Grand Canyon will become ‘Donald’s Gaping Hole.’”

While the Washington Monument and the Grand Canyon are safe for now, Republican Rep. Bob Onder of Missouri on July 23 presented the “Make Entertainment Great Again Act” that would re-designate the performing arts institution that was named in remembrance of John F. Kennedy, the 35th president who was assassinated in 1963. Onder’s proposal arrived after Republicans on the Appropriations Committee approved an amendment in the annual spending bill to rename the Kennedy Center’s Opera House to “First Lady Melania Trump Opera House.”
