A new Australian adult animated series is coming to Netflix.
As per Variety, Netflix has ordered Dad’s House, which is the creation of showrunners and executive producers Michael Cusack (Smiling Friends, YOLO), Dario Russo (Danger 5, Italian Spiderman, The Fox), and David Ashby (Danger 5, Italian Spiderman).
All three of the above talent are also part of the voice cast of the series along with Felicity Ward (The Office, Wakefield, The Inbetweeners 2).
The show synopsis is as follows: “In small-town suburban Australia, thirteen year old child of divorce, Sean, spends every second weekend with his laidback, but well meaning dad, Ian.
“Cramming quality dad-time into a single weekend is already a tall order — but Ian has a remarkable gift for making it so much harder than it needs to be.”
Dad’s House is being produced by Princess Pictures and Bento Box Entertainment.
Cusack is best known for creating YOLO and co-creating Smiling Friends, both of which aired on Adult Swim in the US. The former ran for three seasons, while the latter had three seasons and three short films.

Smiling Friends received positive reviews from critics, with the New York Times writing: “This warped Adult Swim animated series, streaming on Max, is so fast and feral it feels like its own highlight reel.”
“Smiling Friends is an entertaining animated comedy with a short run time and sharp critique of late-stage capitalism,” wrote Film Daze.
Netflix has plenty more adult animation shows for fans of the genre.
Mating Season, which is the creation of the team behind hit series Big Mouth, is on the way, while the streaming platform currently has DANG!, Alley Cats, and Haunted Hotel.
Last year also saw the launch of Long Story Short from BoJack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg, which was renewed for a second season ahead of the series premiere.
