Alan Cumming has a good idea of what makes for a good player on The Traitors, and the host would like to invite Donald Trump to join the game.

Speaking backstage at the Emmys after the show’s win for Outstanding Reality Competition Program, Cumming said he would like to see Trump join the manipulative cast of the series.

“I’m sure our president would be very good on the show,” Cumming told reporters. “We have a lot of chaos and sort of turmoil and treachery, so maybe he’d like to come on and be paid for that. Probably better than he gets as president.”

Cumming, who has hosted the U.S. version of The Traitors since 2023, took the stage at the Emmys to accept the award on behalf of the show. During his speech he noted, “It’s a difficult time we live in, but it’s so great that our show brings a little bit of joy into this life.” The show also won the award last year.

The Traitors follows a group of contestants living in a castle in Scotland as they battle it out for money. Some are designated as traitors, who meet secretly in the night and select a faithful contestant to “murder.” The show’s next season will feature Donna Kelce, Lisa Rinna, Dorinda Medley, Ron Funches, Michael Rapaport, RuPaul’s Drag Race star Monét X Change, and Love Island USA‘s Rob Rausch, among others.

Peacock has yet to announce a premiere date for the fourth season, but the network did confirm an all-civilian edition of the reality show. “The money will mean more to them,” Cumming said of the new version. “I’m pretty excited about it. I think it’s going to be a hoot.”
