CLYPSO Goes Behind the Scenes of The Making of Her ‘Storm’ Video
Just weeks after releasing her latest single of 2020 by way of “Storm”, CLYPSO has taken us behind the scenes of the making of its accompanying video.
Sharing “Storm” back in October, the single is just another addition to the already-stellar year that CLYPSO has had as an artist. In addition to singles such as “Down To The Wire” and “Sidestep”, in addition to collaborations with the likes of Kwame and The Avalanches, it goes without saying that 2020 is a big one.
“Storm”, however, sees the artist once again showing her talent as an incredible performer, with the track serving as something of an antonym to the fair-weather friends in the world.
“I hope this song brings some light and groove back into the hearts of everyone who’s doing it tough but more importantly I hope everyone has at least one badass storm-weather friend in their life,” CLYPSO said in a statement at the time.
To accompany the stellar single, CLYPSO teamed up with renowned creative director Imogen Grist to unveil a music video which incorporates footage of CLYPSO appearing in a series of enchanting miniature worlds.
“It was an absolute pleasure working with Clypso, who let us run wild on the concept and brought so much energy to the shoot,” Grist explained. “This has probably been the most ambitious film clip I’ve ever taken on. Having worked very little with miniatures and VFX, I was definitely thrown in the deep end, but I’ve learned so much throughout the process, and cinematographer/creative wizard Jack Saltmiras held my hand the whole way through.
“I also loved the collaborative nature of the project as it brought together groups of friends to partake in wholesome crafternoons, painting tiny figurines and hanging fluffy clouds from the ceiling – a nice escape from the current state of the world. I hope this project can bring audiences a moment of joy and positivity in these wild and confusing times.”
”It was really special to see this one-of-a-kind video come together,” Clypso adds. “Imogen and her team went all out and I definitely got lucky having the opportunity to work with them on such a unique visual. All the tech, VFX and the miniature modelling was an insane effort to accomplish and very uncharted territory ; the risk paid off for sure.
“Whimsical, playful, otherworldly and dreamy was exactly how I imagined the video would be and the team nailed it. I’d also like to thank the green screen that was with me throughout the shoot, it wasn’t too bad to work with after all.”
CLYPSO’s “Storm” is out now, with the official video available to view via YouTube.
