It feels hard to believe it’s already been a full 12 months, but as triple j’s Hottest 100 kicks off for another year, it’s time to see which tracks have resonated the most with Australian music-lovers.

Announcing the opening of voting late last year, local music fans had plenty of time to cast their votes on the songs that they hoped would make it into the annals of Australian music history this year, with voting ending just under a week ago. As the station revealed though, it looked as though it could be a tight race, with the songs in the #3 and #4 positions separated by a measly 15 votes.

Needless to say, there’s a lot of great songs – both local and international – in the running for musical glory this year, with the likes of Warm Tunas giving fans a bit of an idea as to where some of the front-runners might place. (Warning: that list contains some potential spoilers if you want to keep it all a mystery.)

Yesterday, triple j kicked off their Hottest 100 weekend by doing things a little bit differently. Usually reserving the list of songs that didn’t quite make it until the day after, they brought the Hottest 200 forward to take place in a chronologically-correct fashion, one day before the top 100.

If you want to check out which songs didn’t quite make it, you can head along to the above link, but be warned, a potential spoiler warning is in place for that one, too.

With millions of votes in place, and countless music fans around the world tuning in to triple j to see who storms the top ten, makes Hottest 100 history, or receives some well-deserved glory, it’s now time to find out just who exactly has some of the hottest songs in Australia this year.

Follow along with Rolling Stone Australia from 12pm AEDT today as we provide live updates on all the placings in triple j’s Hottest 100 countdown of 2022.
