TISM and their tour promoter have issued a joint statement calling out “multiple accounts of inappropriate behaviour” on the band’s current Australian tour.
In a statement issued on social media, the Melbourne group and DRW Entertainment wrote: “Both TISM and DRW Entertainment have zero tolerance towards sexism, assault, and aggression towards women, or anyone, at gigs… or ever.
“Catcalling is not ok, throwing things at the support bands is not ok, aggression and non-consensual touching in the crowd is not ok, and is a crime.
“As a music fan, you have a right to have fun and enjoy yourself, but allow those around you, and the bands on stage to enjoy themselves too. If a mate is behaving badly, help them understand how that behaviour is impacting others. If you see something wrong happening, alert security. Look after each other and have a great time.”

In a separate statement shortly after, TISM showed support for its opening acts, which has included Laura and the Hellcutz, The Lost Futures, Legs Electric and The Fuelers.
“TISM have performed with fantastic bands on our current tour. We stand with them when they demand respect from the audience. We especially ask men in the audience to call out any disrespectful behaviour. Please report it to TISM crew or venue staff.”
After performing a second show at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Saturday night, TISM will up the tour, their first national headline run in 30 years, in Wollongong next Friday.
The group recently played one-off shows in Sydney and Melbourne, in celebration of Machiavelli and the Four Seasons.
