TEG has issued a statement responding to reports of an alleged “toxic workplace culture.”
According to the Australian Financial Review, former staff have alleged that senior management members of the live entertainment, ticketing and tech giant displayed aggression toward others and bullied them, including actions like “aggressive late-night Slack messages” and “humiliating public critiques.”
It’s further alleged that TEG’s HR department “buried” two claims of bullying and harassment, while the company’s board were notified of the behaviour and did not take any action.
No specific TEG staff member has been identified or accused of the alleged behaviour.
TEG responded to the allegations in a statement given to Rolling Stone AU/NZ.
“There is no place for bullying, harassment or misconduct at TEG,” the statement reads.
“We do not have the details of the allegations made at this stage, however, we treat these matters extremely seriously and remain committed to investigating all allegations.
“We have formal processes in place to investigate any allegation of workplace misconduct, including by external support.
“In addition, TEG has an open-door policy that encourages employees to share any concerns they have.
“We remain focused on creating a positive and respectful workplace for all.”
The allegations come only a week after it was reported that TEG’s parent company, Silver Lake, is on the hunt for a new chief executive following reports that current head, Geoff Jones, is considering moving into an executive chairman role. Silver Lake managing director Stephen Evans reportedly flew into Sydney last month regarding the matter.
Per the AFR, TEG’s current chief operating officer Cameron Hoy and former Woolworths CEO Brad Banducci are being considered to take on Jones’ position.
Meanwhile just this week, TEG’s Simon Cahill and Jono Whyman were named as co-managing directors for SXSW Sydney for what will be its third year in 2025, replacing Colin Daniels.
The veteran Sydney-based music executive will remain in the TEG family, with a position on the SXSW Sydney board as well as being a founding partner of Handsome Tours, the promoter and events organiser, now part of TEG through a deal struck in 2021.
