The Veils will return to Australia this November for a run of dates in support of Asphodels, the band’s seventh studio album.
Presented by Banished Music, the tour kicks off on Wednesday, November 5th at Northcote Social Club in Melbourne, Victoria, before heading to Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory on Thursday, November 6th.
Asphodels, tracked in just five days at Auckland’s Roundhead Studios, spans nine songs and arrives 20 years on from the group’s debut The Runaway Found.
Frontman Finn Andrews describes the record as a culmination of a now “disconcertingly long career in music,” arriving two decades after their debut. “As always, I really just write about love and death – it’s a compulsion,” he said. “But I feel as though I’ve never been able to express this stuff rattling about in my brain quite as directly until now… this one feels different. It’s built on a strong foundation.”
“I hope these songs help people process these rather hefty matters in the same way they’ve helped me,” added Andrews.

Asphodels borrows its name from the mythical flower and finds inspiration in the writings of Federico García Lorca, Ted Hughes and Louis MacNeice, with orchestrations from Victoria Kelly.
The Veils have toured consistently over two decades, with music featured by filmmakers Paolo Sorrentino, Tim Burton and David Lynch. Their Australian shows will pull from Asphodels and fan favourites from earlier albums.
The upcoming Australian dates follow a string of sold-out shows across Europe, North America and New Zealand in 2023 and 2024. General tickets are on sale now via theveils.com.
