Having been a staple of their live sets for quite some time, Melbourne’s Teskey Brothers have unveiled an official studio recording of their version of INXS’ classic “Never Tear Us Apart”.

Making its debut as part of their 2020 ARIA Awards performance, the group shared their rendition of the cover again for ABC TV’s 2020 New Years Eve telecast, before adding it into their live set, including at the recent WOMADelaide festival last month.

Following an overwhelming response to their cover online, the group entered the studio to formally reimagine the track in full, releasing their breathtaking cover this morning.

“This is an all-time classic Australian song that all of us love,” Josh Teskey explained in a statement. “It’s a pleasure to sing it and I don’t know why we didn’t do it earlier.

“We’re very proud to dedicate this release to our friend Michael Gudinski who was a huge supporter of Australian music and The Teskey Brothers. Our two worlds collided and we will always be grateful for that.”

In keeping with the theme of releasing the track as a tribute to the late Mushroom Group founder, the official video for the track captures footage of Gudinski – alongside video shot by Dara Munnis, Nick Mckk, and  Mushroom Creative House – to give the cover a heartfelt visual accompaniment.

In addition to the newly-released cover, The Teskey Brothers have also unveiled details of a long-awaited headline show at The Forum in Melbourne this month, with tickets on sale next week. Full details are available below.
