The Temper Trap have released their first single of the year, “Into the Wild”.

Continuing their stellar run of recent releases, “Into the Wild” “encapsulates the duality of body and mind, and the existential yearning to transcend physical limits,” according to a press release.

Noted producer Styalz Fuego (Troye Sivan, Charli XCX) worked with the Australian band on the single, with Catherine Marks (Wolf Alice, Boygenius) on mixing duties.

“After years of being apart and trying to find our groove again, ‘Into the Wild’ was the spark that lit the fire,” The Temper Trap share.

“Into the Wild” follows last year’s single “Giving Up Air”, which The Temper Trap later performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in the US.

“‘Giving Up Air’ is a very important song for me about a life-changing moment and the unimaginable pain of losing a loved one in tragic circumstances — from the initial shock to sorrow and then anger, and finding glimmers of hope somewhere in between,” the band’s frontman Dougy Mandagi said at the time.

“Some of you may recognise it. It was written for my solo project Bloodmoon but the boys and I started working on it as The Temper Trap and it felt magical, like it had found its true home. Thank you for all your support so far, it means the world to us, and reminds us why we continue to make music.”

“Giving Up Air” was the quick follow-up to previous single “Lucky Dimes”, which arrived after a near-decade silence from The Temper Trap. Both singles were produced by the Grammy-nominated Fuego.

Those releases followed a fresh wave of global love for The Temper Trap’s back catalogue. “Sweet Disposition” landed at No. 11 in triple j’s Hottest 100 Australian Songs countdown, bolstered by high-profile remixes from John Summit, Vintage Culture, VXSION, and Lost Frequencies.

The Temper Trap continued on the comeback trail with an intimate tour of Australia’s east coast late last year, playing shows in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney in October. 2025 also saw them play sold-out headline shows in New York, London, and more, alongside key festival slots at Beyond the Valley and Party in the Paddock.
