The Streets have announced their first full-length release in close to a decade, with Mike Skinner sharing the first taste of his upcoming mixtape earlier today.
Just under a fortnight ago, one of the most unexpected collaborations in recent memory was teased when Mike Skinner of The Streets revealed that Kevin Parker of Tame Impala had been tapped for an upcoming mixtape.
Taking to social media, The Streets shared a brief clip which showed Mike Skinner practicing social distancing by calling Kevin Parker from a vintage Nokia in the Alps. While Skinner’s rhymes flow, they’re paired by the unmistakable voice of Parker, who reassures us that “I was gonna call you back, I swear“.
Titled ‘Call My Phone Thinking I’m Doing Nothing Better’, the full-length track has arrived, and serves as the opening track on The Streets’ upcoming mixtape, None of Us Are Getting Out of This Life Alive, which arrives on July 10th.
Apart from a handful of singles, the mixtape serves as the first new collection of music from The Streets since Computers and Blues in 2011. The mixtape is available for pre-order now, and features appearances from Idles, Ms Banks, Jesse James, and more.
In related news, Tame Impala recently released a “self-isolation” version of The Slow Rush on YouTube, while also announcing rescheduled Australian tour dates, which can be seen below.
