As the second season of The Sound continues, producers are clearly not running out of any ideas for each week’s lineup, with a raft of world-beating artists joining the bill this week.
Following in the footsteps of previous broadcasts such as The State of Music, the first season of the show premiered on July 19th, fittingly appearing in the timeslot once occupied by Countdown back in the day. Hosted by former Recovery host Jane Gazzo, alongside triple j’s Bridget Hustwaite, and a special guest most weeks, the program features live music and interviews that fans have long cried out for a return of.
Following a massive week that featured the likes of Birds of Tokyo, Alison Wonderland, Kate Ceberano, and Something For Kate, viewers would undoubtedly be wondering how such a lineup could be topped. However, as a testament to their hard work, producers have now unveiled a massive lineup for episode six, with artists such as Tash Sultana and Pendulum leading this week’s edition.
Far from peaking with these two artists, the forthcoming episode is also set to feature Courtney Barnett, A. Swayze & The Ghosts, Budjerah, and Kita Alexander, while Baker Boy & Dallas Woods are on track to team up for a stellar performance, joined by recent ARIA winner Sampa the Great.
Meanwhile, this week’s tribute segment will feature the likes of Marcia Hines, Russell Morris, Didirri, Andy Bull and Mia Wray performing in honour of the recently-departed Max Merritt, while the ‘From The Vault’ segment boasts an archival performance from Do-Ré-Mi.
The Sound is set to broadcast at 6pm on Sunday, December 6th, with an encore performance available on both iview, and the ABC on the following Saturday.
