After a massive six weeks, the first series of ABC’s The Sound comes to an end this weekend, and to celebrate, producers are going all out with one of their biggest lineups to date.

Following in the footsteps of previous broadcasts such as The State of Music, the show premiered on July 19th, fittingly appearing in the timeslot once occupied by Countdown back in the day. Hosted by former Recovery host Jane Gazzo, alongside Double J Mornings host Zan Rowe, and a special guest each week, the program features live music and interviews that fans have long cried out for a return of.

So far, some of Australia’s biggest and most respected creatives have appeared on the show, ranging from Nick Cave, DMA’S, Diesel, Cub Sport, Jessica Mauboy, and the masterful collaboration of Paul Kelly and Paul Grabowsky.

Now, as the sixth episode and series finale arrives this weekend, The Sound has announced that this week will be one of their biggest yet, featuring appearances from Tones And I, Guy Sebastian, Bliss n Eso, and Vika & Linda.

Missy Higgins, Jessica Mauboy, and John Butler will perform alongside Electric Fields, while Josh Teskey & Ash Grunwald, and CXLOE round out the bill. The episode will also feature a special performance of Mondo Rock ‘From The Vault’, while the episode will also boast a tribute to Billy Thorpe and The Aztecs, featuring Jimmy Barnes, Chris Cheney (The Living End), Mahalia Barnes, Ben Rodgers, Lachy Doley, and Jackie Barnes.

This week’s episode will also feature hosts Jane Gazzo and Zan Rower joined by three special co-hosts, including four-time Grammy Award winner Keith Urban, acting legend Jack Thompson, and iconic music man Molly Meldrum.

The Sound is set to broadcast at 5:30pm on Sunday, August 23rd, with an encore performance available on both iview, and the ABC on the following Saturday.
