Following its welcome debut on TV screens over the weekend, ABC’s new music program The Sound has now announced the lineup for its forthcoming second episode.
Following in the footsteps of previous broadcasts such as The State of Music, the show premiered on Sunday evening, fittingly appearing in the timeslot once occupied by Countdown back in the day. Hosted by former Recovery host Jane Gazzo, alongside Double J Mornings host Zan Rowe, and a special guest each week, the program features live music and interviews that fans have long cried out for a return of.
Now, The Sound has unveiled the lineup for its second episode, featuring some of the biggest names in Australian music. Leading the charge is none other than Paul Kelly and Paul Grabowsky, who are set to release their new collaborative album, Please Leave Your Light On, on July 31st.
“It’s great to have our music back on free to air TV,” Kelly said of the program. “All power to The Sound. Long may it run.”
“I’m excited and honoured to be appearing with Paul Kelly on The Sound,” added Grabowsky. “Having grown up in the ‘70s, the idea of sitting in front of a colour telly on Sundays at 5.30 was an integral part of my alternative music education. Now we can all do it again! And to be playing this exquisite song by the great Mr K just makes it even more special.”
The second episode of The Sound will also feature appearances from The Tesky Brothers, Julia Stone, James Reyne, Cub Sport, Eves Karydas, San Cisco, and SYCCO, who appears as part of the program’s Introducing segment.
The Sound is set to air at 5:30pm on the ABC, with an encore performance taking place at 12:30pm the following Saturday.
