With just a matter of weeks to go until the release of their Unplugged in Wombat State Forest record, The Smith Street band have added extra dates to their upcoming tour.
First announcing the release of their new live album and concert film in December, the group detailed a cautious three-date tour of Melbourne and Sydney that same month. With COVID restrictions easing, the semi-acoustic tour has seen more dates added, with The Smith Street Band now set to visit regional areas on their forthcoming trek in March.
While the initial hometown dates at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre are sold out, the group have now added an extra date at the esteemed venue, along with a pair of shows in Bendigo and Warrnambool for late February. These dates join a headline show at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on March 12th, and take place a month before an appearance at Wollongong’s Yours & Owls Festival.
The tour is in support of their Unplugged in Wombat State Forest album, which arrives on March 5th, and features ten tracks reworked and recorded live at the band’s Bush House Studio.
To celebrate the impending release of the record, the band have also released a new single today by way of “It’s OK”. Accompanied by a clip filmed by Nick Manuell & Greg Rietwyk, the video captures the raw intensity of the track performed at Wombat State Forest ahead of its appearance on the Unplugged album.
The Smith Street Band’s “It’s OK” is out now, while Unplugged in Wombat State Forest will be released on March 5th via Pool House Records/Remote Control, with pre-orders available now. The group’s concert film is also available to stream now.
