Months on from the release of their fourth record, and first chart-topping release, 0202, The Rubens have returned with their latest single, sharing “Waste a Day” this morning.

Capturing the classic Rubens sound through slick production, powerful instrumentation, and the smooth vocals of Sam Margin, “Waste a Day” is described as being about the idea of ensuring that every day is lived to its potential. “Everyday has the potential to be a good day,” the group explained. “Squeeze what you can from it.”

Dedicated fans might notice that the track seems like a stylistic continuation of the sound explored by The Rubens on their 0202 album, but that’s no coincidence, with the single having been recorded during sessions for the record, but just missed the deadline for inclusion.

Alongside the single’s arrival, The Rubens are also unveiling an official music video for the track, which premieres at 6pm AEDT via YouTube.

Meanwhile, the band have also revealed an extensive tour in support of the single. Having been forced to postpone numerous dates as the result of the COVID-19 pandemic, The Rubens are planning to spend the majority of 2022 on the road.

With a run of dates in support of Vance Joy set to take place toward the end of next year, the start will see the group hitting up numerous cities as part of their extensive tour, in addition to the band’s own hometown festival, ValleyWays which will see them performing alongside Skegss, Middle Kids, Stevan, and more. Tickets are available via the band’s website, with full details available below.

The Rubens’ “Waste a Day” is out now via Ivy League Records.
