The National have announced their return to Australia.
Last here in 2018, the US indie rock band will perform shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth through February and March of next year (see full dates below).
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, September 22nd at 12pm local time. The Live Nation pre-sale begins on Thursday, September 21st at 1pm local time.
The National will be joined by two very special guests at all shows – Fleet Foxes and Annie Hamilton.
Also last here in 2018, Fleet Foxes, one of the most acclaimed folk bands of the 21st century, will present their 2020 album, Shore, to Australian audiences. The album was widely praised by critics, with Rolling Stone hailing it as “the most immediately rewarding Fleet Foxes record since their brilliant 2008 debut.”
Rising Sydney singer-songwriter Annie Hamilton has previously supported Jack River and will open all of The National’s Australian shows.
The National are touring in support of their 2023 albums, First Two Pages of Frankenstein and Laugh Track. The former was released to positive reviews in April, becoming a top ten hit in the US, Australia, and several other countries. Laugh Track, meanwhile, was surprise released this month.
“Nine albums deep, The National find new energy by conjuring not just a great, suffocating fog but also the far light that guides the way out,” wrote Rolling Stone in a strong appraisal of First Two Pages of Frankenstein.
