Iconic Las Vegas rockers The Killers are the latest band to join the lineup for Triple M’s Garage Session – a segment which sees station listeners win the chance to see bands performing live in an intimate setting.
Historically, the Garage Session has seen famous names such as The Angels, Birds of Tokyo, Something for Kate, and Rob Thomas step up for these exclusive performances. In recent months though, the entire process has been a little different, with Triple M announcing back in April that the performance series was going virtual in the midst of COVID-19.
Now, the station has unveiled the latest act to perform for the Garage Session, with The Killers on track to appear in virtual mode for lucky listeners.
“The Killers are one of the greatest rock bands of the modern era and we are honoured to be able to work with them to bring another world-class garage session performance to our Triple M listeners,” explained Mickey Maher, Head of Music for Hit and Triple M Networks.
“Music is the one thing that can continue to keep us connected during these challenging times and we will continue to bring our listeners together the best way that we know how to!”
Fans have a chance to win their virtual ticket to the performance by listening to the station’s Kennedy Molloy drive show from 4pm to 6pm weekdays AEST.
Meanwhile, The Killers are set to release their sixth album, Imploding the Mirage, in August. Days before COVID-19 restrictions fully hit the world, the group announced that they would be visiting Australia in November as part of their world tour.
Days later, the on-sale date for tickets to the tour was postponed, and no further information has been made available at the current time. It remains to be seen whether an announcement will be made in regards to a potential postponement for the tour.
