The Killers have just unveiled one of the year’s biggest announcements, sharing not only news of a new Australian tour, but their first single from their long-awaited sixth album as well.
It’s currently been two-and-a-half years since we last saw a new record from The Killers, and while that’s not the longest gap between albums, it’s enough absence for our hearts to indeed grow fonder. Though they released new single “Land of the Free” in early 2019, rumours have swirled about the release of their new album for quite some time.
Back in November, the group announced that the new album would be called Imploding the Mirage and would be released in Spring (or Autumn, for those is the Southern Hemisphere), while tour dates in the UK and Ireland were also shared.
Now, after teasing the release of their new single “Caution”, The Killers have not only shared the new track, but announced their return to Australian shores.
Kicking off in November, the band’s four-date tour will see them visiting Brisbane, Sydney, Perth, and Melbourne, showcasing old classics and new favourites from Imploding the Mirage, which officially releases on May 29th.
Self-produced by the band in partnership with musical engineer Shawn Everett (The War On Drugs, Kacey Musgraves, Beck) and Foxygen multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Rado, the record takes strong influence from the likes of Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel, Bruce Springsteen and New Order, and features appearances from Lindsey Buckingham, k.d. lang, Weyes Blood, Adam Granduciel (The War On Drugs), Blake Mills, and Lucius.
Tickets to the band’s Australian tour go on sale from Monday, March 23rd, with onsale times staggered across the country. Check out the full list of tour dates below, and pre-order Imploding the Mirage now.
