The Chats are gearing up to release their debut album this month, and as anticipation grows, the trio have shared the soon-to-be-viral video for their latest single, “Dine N Dash”.
Ever since The Chats first burst onto the music scene a few years ago thanks to their breakthrough single “Smoko”, they’ve been practically unstoppable. As their profile has risen, so has the amount of big names they’ve been rubbing shoulders with. In fact, you can add the likes of Dave Grohl, Josh Homme, Alex Turner, Miguel, Iggy Pop, and even comedian Tony Clifton to their long list of fans.
Now, the group have added a massive feather to their cap, pulling off the seemingly impossible and recruiting an elusive viral sensation for their latest clip.
The Matt Weston-directed video finds The Chats eating a meal, a succulent steakhouse meal in the unfamiliar environment of high society. As one would expect, the group adopt the brazen behaviour of the dine and dash routine (which they make abundantly clear they do not condone) in order to protect the sad state of affairs that is their wallets.
“We filmed at Walters steakhouse in Brisbane,” Josh Price explains of the clip. “It was the best steak I’ve had. Definitely gave the bowlsie a run for its money. No mushy gravy though.”
“Ya know you’re in a fancy restaurant when the chips and salad aren’t included,” added Eamon Sandwith.
While the clip itself is a testament to the band’s classic behaviour, it’s worth watching all the way to the end to finally appreciate the madness of this new video.
To celebrate the release of the new clip and their forthcoming album, The Chats have also announced their national album tour. Kicking off at Splendour in the Grass in July, the tour will visit Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, and is bound to be one of the most raucous affairs on offer this year.
