U.S. EDM stars The Chainsmokers will headline Australia’s second annual Palm Tree Music Festival, which swings into three east coast cities this December.

Announced today (4th July), the “Paris” duo will be joined on the line-up by Alesso, Gryffin, Austin Millz, Daya, and others.

Produced by Kygo’s Palm Tree Crew and TEG Live, the Australian edition will tee-off at Sydney Showground on 6th December, shifts to Brisbane’s Sandstone Point on 7th December, and wraps-up at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl on 8th December.

Repping Australia in the first announcement is emerging artist Darley, who graduates from triple j rotation, to the mainstage at Ultra, and now Palm Tree Music Festival. “I can’t wait to be playing on one of the world’s biggest festivals with artists I’ve looked up to my whole career,” she says in a statement to Rolling Stone AU.

Palm Tree Music Festival Melbourne 2023

Palm Tree Crew launched in 2020, a project of Norwegian EDM producer and DJ Kyrre Gorvell Dahll (aka Kygo) and his manager Myles Shear, with a shared dream of rollout out must-have festival experience to lush locations around the globe.

In just four years, Palm Tree has become a global network of dance parties that has visited Hawaii, The Hamptons, Aspen, Egypt, Mexico, Croatia and elsewhere.

Palm Tree Crew “harnesses the power of business builders, investors, strategic advisors and celebrities who know how to build global brands,” reads a statement from the team.

Kygo and Shear clearly did their research on Australia. The first Soundcheck report, published by Creative Australia in April, mapped 535 festivals around the country and found that dance music was king, accounting for almost one in four dance music festivals nationwide (23% of the total).

Tickets for Palm Tree Music Festival 2024 go on sale to the general public next Friday, 12th July at 3:00 pm local time.
