The Buoys are coming back with a new album, and a run of national tour dates to match.

The Sydney alt-rockers have announced Concrete Cowboy, their long-awaited second album, due for release on Friday, October 23rd via Sony Music Australia. To mark the news, the band have dropped a new single, “Welcome to My Brain,” joining recent tracks “Bitch” and “Kill You Back” on the record.

Where 2024’s Lustre saw The Buoys stretching across genres, Concrete Cowboy pulls back toward what they do best: sharp, emotionally direct songwriting wrapped in punchy, guitar-driven rock. Lustre, The Buoys’ debut, landed at No. 7 on the ARIA Albums Chart and picked up triple j’s Featured Album honour before earning a nomination for Australian Album of the Year.

The new album was produced by Chris Collins, with co-writes from Alistair Hayes, Fletcher Matthews, Konstantin Kerstin, and Dylan Ollivierre. It draws on influences ranging from Nile Rodgers, The 1975, HAIM, and The Beths to ’80s cult film references, Roman poetry and the band’s own dream sequences.

Speaking on the album, The Buoys said: “We were in the studio together when the phrase came to us: too many tabs open. That became the heartbeat of the record. Concrete Cowboy is about trying to keep pace with a world that never slows down, and what you find when you finally stop.

“Dreams, repressed memories, the blur between what’s real and what your mind has been quietly holding. We wanted to build a world around that feeling, one that lives in a surrealist dream state where those lines don’t just blur, they dissolve. We hope listeners find themselves inside it, so they can have a dance when it all feels a little too much.”

The Buoys will be taking the album on the road throughout October, kicking off their tour with a hometown Sydney show on release day, before stops in Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Perth.
