The Beths made their late-night television debut in the US last night.
The Auckland power-pop band appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to perform the title track from their recently released fourth album, Straight Line Was a Lie. Watch below.
Their late-night debut arrives ahead of the North American leg of their world tour, which kicked off last month in the UK and Europe. They’ll play some of their biggest venues in the US and Canada to date, including The Wiltern in Los Angeles and The Fillmore in San Francisco.
In other Beths news, they today announced a seven-date Aotearoa tour, set to take them to Wellington, Dunedin, Christchurch, Nelson, and Auckland next March (see full dates below).
Tickets to the New Zealand tour go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, November 5th at 8am local time. The pre-sale begins on Monday, November 3rd at 8am local time.
It comes after The Beths recently announced a run of shows in Australia, their biggest-ever headline tour of the country.
Straight Line Was a Lie earned a positive 3.5/5 review from us.

“Four records in, the Beths know their formula works — their strengths lie in ear-worm choruses, insightful lyrics, and Stokes’ sweet, knowing vocals, all anchored by stacked harmonies and sharp guitars. Straight Line Was a Lie finds the band embracing an openhearted surrender to every aspect of growth while acknowledging that the cycle will inevitably begin again,” our review read.
Their previous album, Expert in a Dying Field, also topped our 80 Best New Zealand Albums of the 2020s So Far list.
