Teenage Dads are staking their claim for the Christmas season, with the release of seasonal single “Alone Again for Christmas”, out today (December 5th) via Chugg Music.
Hot off their Sydney Opera House forecourt performance with Franz Ferdinand, and just as their recent triple j Like a Version hit half a million views, the indie-four piece have melded the retro with a clear through line to the contemporary on “Alone Again for Christmas”.
Misty and upbeat, the single is sentimental with an analogue sheen, no doubt set to trigger a double-take of recent Christmas renditions by Laufey to She and Him amongst classics by The Beach Boys.
Teenage Dads have announced a run of intimate performances to celebrate this time of year, kicking off at Brisbane’s Crowbar on Friday, December 12th, before Melbourne’s Corner Bar on December 13th, and Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory on December 20th.
Fans are encouraged to don their best Christmas paraphernalia and keep an eye on Teenage Dads socials for a bunch of Christmas banter that Jordy, Connor, Angus and Vince have in store. Tickets are available here.
“Alone Again for Christmas” follows the group’s recent My Memento EP, an extension of last year’s acclaimed Majordomo album. My Memento includes the previously released single “Stay Between Us” along with newer tracks such as “Fire Fire,” inspired by the loss of years of music and art on a damaged hard drive.

Majordomo received a positive 3.5/5 star review from Rolling Stone AU/NZ. “Majordomo finds the Dads light on their feet, joyful, busy. Jordan Finlay and co. have created a musical time capsule with a direct route to XTC and Talking Heads without playing copycat,” we wrote.
Following Majordomo’s successful debut, which was a triple j Feature Album and peaked at No. 1 on the ARIA Australian Albums Chart, Teenage Dads have continued to expand their fan base through extensive touring across Australia, the UK, Europe, North America, and Canada.
Their dedication to touring includes festival appearances at Beyond The Valley, Lost Paradise, Party in the Paddock, Laneway Festival, SXSW Sydney, The Great Escape (UK), Reeperbahn (GR), Yours & Owls, to stages with Dayglow, Spacey Jane, and Lime Cordiale. Across their own headline shows, Teenage Dads have brought breakout acts as Folk Bitch Trio, Phoebe Go, aleksiah, The Moving Stills, Lola Scott and others on the road too.
Teenage Dads’ “Alone Again for Christmas” is out now.
