Swapmeet are taking their biggest step yet, announcing an expansive world tour that will see them headline shows across Australia, North America, the UK and Europe later this year.

The tour announcement comes ahead of the release of the band’s debut album Mount Zero, due out July 17th via Winspear, and follows a breakout 18 months that has transformed the Adelaide four-piece from local pub favourites into one of Australia’s most talked-about emerging acts.

The run begins with four Australian headline dates in September, kicking off at Adelaide’s Rhino Room on September 4th before heading to Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne (see full dates below). Tickets are on sale now here.

From there, the band will make their way to the US and Canada in October for a string of club shows before continuing through Europe and the UK in late October and November, including appearances at the Paris and London editions of Pitchfork Music Festival.

The tour dates arrive alongside the release of new single “Halfway”, the final preview of Mount Zero before the album’s arrival next month.

Reflecting the album’s themes of change and growing pains, the band said the track “looks at the first confrontations with change. The first confrontations with loss, and every choice feeling like a mistake. When you finally realise things can’t truly ever return to how they once were”.

The album’s title was inspired by a road sign the band frequently encountered while travelling. “Mount Zero is a place you pass but never go,” guitarist and vocalist Maxwell Elphick explained. “It became a symbol for people we’d see but never meet. When you’re always in a different city and trying new things, there are a lot of experiences you observe but never get to fully explore.”

The tour follows a period of rapid growth for Swapmeet, who have attracted attention through singles including “I Know!” and a live show that sees members regularly swap instruments and vocal duties onstage.
