After launching as the first major festival to be held since the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, Summer Sounds has today announced its expansion into Melbourne, revealing its first lineup today.
Holding its first event at Adelaide’s Bonython Park on January 8th, the Summer Sounds festival served as a breath of fresh air to countless music fans around the state, with the likes of Mallrat, Ruel, Spiderbait, Will Sparks, and Ocean Alley providing exactly what stages have been yearning for across the last year.
However, as Adelaide’s run wraps up this weekend, now Melbourne has gotten in on the action, revealing its four-date concert series, set to begin in late February.
Launching on February 25th and running until March 4th, the iconic Sidney Myer Music Bowl will play host to an array of Aussie icons, including Ball Park Music and Thelma Plum, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard and Tropical Fuck Storm, Bernard Fanning and Something for Kate, and Spacey Jane and RAT!hammock. An as-yet-unannounced special guest will also be joining the bill each night.
As with previous concerts at the venue, these gigs will be held in a COVID-safe environment, with patrons able to book private areas in groups of two, four, and six across private decks, stall tables, and balcony seats.
Tickets to the Melbourne leg of the Summer Sounds festival are on sale from Monday, February 1st, with a pre-sale beginning on Friday, January 29th. See below for full details.
