Spacey Jane are back.

The four-piece have released a new single, “Do You Really Love Her?”, marking their first piece of new music since last year’s acclaimed album If That Makes Sense. Created during writing sessions for the album, the band said it “didn’t feel like the right fit” to include. last year, however, they “always wanted it to see the light of day”.

Written on Mulholland Drive in the Hollywood Hills, the song leans into a bigger, more expansive sound, with punchy drums and lush and prominent synths that give it a wide screen feel.

“Written with Sarah Aarons and Joel Little then taken to John Hill for production, we referenced lush ’80s pub rock in the studio,” the band shared.

“Australian bands like INXS, The Church and Icehouse are both nostalgic and inspirational to us. It’s part fiction, part reality. A dream about being stood up by your date only to see them on a movie screen and the experience of yearning for a connection and losing someone to time, distance or another life.

“This release and the others to follow are almost experiments. Songs we love that didn’t end up on an album. Something we want to share while we take stock and reset,” they added.

If That Makes Sense was nominated for two ARIA Awards and landed at No. 2 on the ARIA Albums Chart on release. It ended the year as the highest selling Australian album of new music and saw them named the Most Played artist on triple j for 2025.

If That Makes Sense followed 2022’s Here Comes Everybody and 2020’s Sunlight. The band became a hometown sensation after the release of Sunlight, with lead single “Booster Seat” earning the ARIA for Song of the Year. Similarly, Here Comes Everybody debuted at No. 1 on the ARIA Charts and earned them the title of triple j’s most played artist in 2022.
