Following an internationally acclaimed run into America’s Got Talent’s 2020 Quarter Finals, Sheldon Riley has today released his debut single, “More Than I”.
The Gold Coast artist received praise and support from Kylie Minogue after he covered her hit song “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head”, but the first taste of original music has arrived.
Sheldon Riley delivers cinematic soundscapes with a punch-in-the-gut modern masterpiece as he sings of self-love. Sparked by the emotions surrounding the time he affirmed his sexuality, “More Than I” digs deep as it weaves through a dark-pop arrangement.
“The back and forth anti-climactic chorus into insane instrumentals sections explains the constant fight or flight confusion going on in my mind,” explains Sheldon Riley. “It was in those moments in life that I would fight myself forgetting that no one will love me ‘more than I’ tonight.”
Teaming up with producer Sam Sakr (Dua Lipa, G Flip, The Veronicas, Guy Sebastian) for the single, Riley toes the line of introversion and extroversion delicately and powerfully.
“I had a vision that each song would play through like a movie, with all different intentions, stories and feelings in each song,” said Riley. “With “More Than I” I wanted a track that created an impact! Cinematic and emotional. You could call this the epic movie trailer music that would tease the sound scape of the album!
“The idea behind this sound and lyric was to have this impactful instrumental that represented the overwhelming push and pull to grow up young, battles of internal frustration, revealing of my sexuality & fighting strong when I was most weak,” he added.
The world has been waiting for original music from Sheldon Riley. And having amassed over 35 million views across YouTube and socials, and with his audition on the 2019 The Voice All-stars show garnering over 10 million views, Riley’s entrance as a solo artist arrives to open arms.
