Just weeks on from the release of their latest single, “Dentist”, Melbourne folk-pop outfit Pierce Brothers have returned with the latest taste of their forthcoming album, Into the Great Unknown.
Having shared a number of songs in the lead-up to their forthcoming album, the group’s latest track came about across two seperate time periods, with both sides of the group helping to stitch it together. While Jack wrote the chorus whilst trekking through the Swiss mountains in 2018, it remained unused until Pat reworked it, rewrote the verses, and gave it a fresh life.
Produced by Jan Skubizeski (John Butler, The Cat Empire), mixed by Phil Threfall (Illy, Ed Sheeran), and mastered by Joe Carra at Crystal Mastering (The Tesky Brothers, The Cat Empire), “It’s Alright” sees the brothers offering up an eclectic, energetic single that seamlessly eases fans into the release of their album, which arrives early next year.
To complement the track, the pair teamed up with Carl Allison (Tones and I) and Jesse Leaman (Leaman Films, Didirri) to create a music video which tells the story of two warring soldiers who find comfort in one another after stumbling upon a Wonderland inspired tea party. Shot in the outer eastern regions of Melbourne on the day that Victoria’s lockdown ended, the clip is a masterful touch that adds an extra layer of euphoria to the track.
“We have worked a lot with Carl Allison in the past,” explains Pat, “he and Jesse pitched us the idea and we just thought it sounded so interesting, weird and delightful. I was a little worried it’d come off too over the top but I’m stoked at how it turned out, just a really nice story of two people finding comfort somewhere unexpected.”
Pierce Brothers’ “It’s Alright” is out now via Ditto.
