An experimental piece of industrial brilliance, “StVO” is the sort of visceral music that only MY DISCO could create.

As Melbourne experimental outfit MY DISCO unveil their latest full-length album, the veteran group have shared a video for their latest single, the visceral “StVO”.

Having last released a new album by way of 2019’s Environment, MY DISCO have spent the last couple of years working towards the release of their newest effort, Alter Schwede,

Recorded remotely by the band and mix engineer Boris Wilsdorf at his AndereBaustelle studio in Berlin, Alter Schwede feels exactly like what a MY DISCO album should sound like, continuing on their recent trend of ambient experimentation, while also utilising sounds and elements from Environment and continuing to expand their interest in “unique percussion, dark FM synthesis and industrial noise”.

The result is something truly powerful. While many albums would be described as needing to be heard to be believed, MY DISCO’s Alter Schwede is an album that needs to be felt to be truly appreciated.

Officially released today, Alter Schwede had been preceded by the likes of first single “Folterkammer”, and now comes accompanied by the unveiling of new single “StVO”.

Paired with visuals directed by Mclean Stephenson & Joel Burrows, the video for “StVO” is one that is as fitting as it is esoteric, with black-and-white footage combining atmospheric shots of a vehicle and immersive action shots that leave the listener with an almost visceral reaction.

Against a soundtrack of the industrial instrumental, paired with a menacing voiceover in German, the accompanying video almost leaves you feeling motion-sick as the quick cuts and the devastating audio turn into a powerful force of nature, the likes of which that only MY DISCO could provide.

MY DISCO’s “StVO” is out now, while new album Alter Schwede is out today via Heavy Machinery Records.
