With just a matter of days to go until the unveiling of their new album, All The Rage, Melbourne LOSER have shared their latest single, with “Skyward” proving their status as one of the country’s premier alt-rock outfits.

Having first appeared on the scene only a handful of years ago with the promise of “stadium dreams on a bedroom budget”, LOSER wasted no time in showcasing their wares. Armed with influences ranging from the likes or Weezer, the Smashing Pumpkins, and Nirvana, LOSER are firmly rooted within the ’90s, albeit with a forward-leaning view which sees them open to exploring new musical ideas.

Self-recorded by the band in their newly-launched Restless Noise Studios, new single “Skyward” sees LOSER channelling their penchant for nostalgic rock, and pairing it with pummelling riffs and pounding percussion, turning it into one of their most accomplished releases to date.

“Skyward” is set to appear on LOSER’s forthcoming album, All The Rage, which (in addition to featuring artwork reminiscent of beloved alt-rock icons The Lemonheads’ 1990 album, Lovey), serves as their second record in as many years.

“I hope there’s something on this album that people feel like they can relate to,” notes bassist Craig Selak. “Even a song like ‘Skyward’ – I mean, it’s about aliens, but it’s also about feeling like when shit’s hitting the fan, you can step out and just focus on yourself…

“I think that’s the overarching theme of the album: you don’t have to step away and hide from the world, you can look within and find something that makes you feel more comfortable. And that really sums up the personal growth we all went through in trying to record this album, learning not to overthink things, and Tim (Maxwell, vocals)’s personal journey with his mental health over the pandemic.”

LOSER’s “Skyward” is out now, while new album All The Rage will officially be released on September 10th, with pre-orders available now.
