Sydney’s Hotel has continued a run of stellar singles, teaming up with Obi Ill of acclaimed hip-hop outfit Triple One to craft a mesmerising and upbeat single which provides listeners with hope in bleak situations.

It was only under a year ago that the world was introduced to Hotel. Hailing from Sydney, Hotel is latest the musical moniker of Andrew Tudehope, who has been known by countless names in previous years. Armed with a love for names such as Talking Heads and The Flaming Lips, Hotel unleashed debut single “Loose Change” in December of 2020, before following things up again with “Meraki” back in June.

With these previous tracks finding acclaim on the likes of triple j, and both the Italian and UK media, Hotel has quickly been rising through the ranks to serve as one of the names you should be watching right now.

Now, Hotel has once again teamed up with childhood friend Obi Ill to craft the eclectic “Holy Smokes”. Ostensibly named for the reaction it evokes from its listeners, “Holy Smokes” drifts between genres, featuring elements of driving rock music, blissful electronica, and indie hip-hop to deliver something wholly unique and totally immersive.

While the track’s pulsating energy might be an uplifting one that could easily see you letting loose out on the dancefloor, its message is undoubtedly clear, with the track seemingly custom-made to provide the much-needed hope we seek while stuck within bleak situations.

Hotel’s “Holy Smokes (feat. Obi Ill)” is out now.
