The inimitable Garrett Kato has unveiled his latest stellar track, sharing the stunning “Secrets” today.
A prolific performer, the Canadian-born, Australia-based artist feels as if he’s never been off-cycle, having unveiled his EP, Kumamoto (named for the city in southern Japan where his family’s bloodline began) last year, before closing closing out 2021 with the release of “Rearview Mirror”.
However, it was only a matter of weeks ago that Kato again returned to our ears by way of “Drugstore Houses”, and now following it up with the ethereal beauty of “Secrets”.
Released today (and featuring an artwork photographer taken by Kato’s daughter Lyla), “Secrets” is an effecting piece of downtempo indie-folk, pairing Kato’s gorgeous voice with tender, yet effectual instrumentation, and powerful lyrics to create a track that is easily amongst his best work to date.
Though a handful of new singles might indicate the forthcoming release of a larger body of work, it’s currently unknown what the future holds for Kato, though he will be spending plenty of time on the road in the coming months.
In addition to serving as the main support for the Pierce Brothers’ upcoming tour of Europe and the UK, Kato is set to appear on a number of festivals in the near future, alongside his own headline tour, which is set to take place in August. Full details for that tour are available below.
