Brisbane’s Gabriella Cohen has returned with her latest single of 2021, unveiling the summery anthem “I Just Got So High” today.
Following on from the release of “Frangelico Dreams” last month, Cohen has unleashed the latest taste of her upcoming album, with the bouncy new track standing tall as one of her best to date.
Recorded and co-produced with Sam Cromack of Ball Park Music, “I Just Got So High” channels the indie pop and rock style that Cohen has become known for, pairing it with slick bass and her soulful vocals to turn it into an instant anthem that feels custom made for late nights or the long summer days.
Though details are still forthcoming, “I Just Got So High” is set to appear on Cohen’s forthcoming new album, continuing her powerful music trajectory that has seen her profile spread far and wide across her vast body of work.
Speaking to HappyMag recently, Cohen explained that the sessions which resulted in her new music were some of the best she’s had in recent times.
“It was a super positive experience, totally creative and fun. The songs reflect that,” she explained. “It was like Christmas for me. I skipped away from each session, elated at the sounds we were producing, and how efficient it all was. When it ended, I was like, ‘no…but why?’.”
Much like last single “Frangelico Dreams”, “I Just Got So High” captures the pure talent and passion of Cohen, filtered through a vintage lens which only helps but to amplify the stellar abilities she posses. Undoubtedly, we’re on the cusp of seeing her become a household name in no time.
