Sydney indie-rock outfit FVNERAL might only be making their debut with new single “GOD DAMN LEDs”, but the group’s members are responsible for a lengthy and impressive body of work.

Releasing on Wednesday, the single serves as the first official piece of work from FVNERAL, a seven-piece collective whose members have spent years writing and producing with Australian favourites including Birds Of Tokyo, Middle Kids, and Stand Atlantic, and collaborating on creative projects with international powerhouses such as Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, The Struts, Neck Deep, and more.

Needless to say, with a wealth of talent at their disposal, it’s no surprise that “GOD DAMN LEDs” arrives as a piece of music that feels both immensely accomplished and capable of going to toe-to-toe with international musical heavyweights.

Written in studios and bedrooms between Sydney and Los Angeles, “GOD DAMN LEDs” might not have been the first song that the group wrote together, yet its heartwarming sounds (including the dynamic vocals ofTim Blunt and Ally Turner), notions of optimism, and themes of finding safety and relief in the help of someone else serve as a masterful introduction to the group.

“‘GOD DAMN LEDs’ is speaking directly to someone who makes you feel seen, heard and important enough to stay alive,” the group explain in a statement. “It describes the moment when you finally begin to lower your guard; letting this person take the emotional driver’s seat when you feel like it’s not safe for you to drive.

“It’s as desperate-making as it is cathartic to realise that someone else has taken the responsibility for your own wellbeing onto their shoulders. While it is an incredibly unfair and ultimately unsustainable expectation to put on someone, there is still something beautiful about feeling safe enough to let it happen, even if only for a fleeting moment.”

An infectious piece of powerful indie-rock, “GOD DAMN LEDs” isn’t just a stellar addition to your playlist this week, but a gorgeous introduction to one of your new favourite bands.

FVNERAL’s “GOD DAMN LEDs” is officially released on Wednesday, October 27th.
