US hip-hop artist Blxst has burst into 2022 in the best way possible, unveiling new single “Sometimes” following a year of massive momentum in 2021.

Having first entered the world of hip-hop close to a decade ago, it was only in the last few years that Blxst (better known to friends as Matthew Burdette) found his profile rising rapidly. Releasing his No Love Lost
EP in late 2020, it was enough to capture the attention of countless fans and artists around the globe, with the next year bringing with it wider success thanks to “Chosen”, which featured both Tyga and Ty Dolla $ign.

In fact, it was just back in late January that Blxst added another feather to his already-decorated gap, earning the Best New Artist nod at the 2022 XXL Awards. Now, as he continues to ride this wave of success, he’s unveiled his latest track, with “Sometimes” officially releasing late last week.

Working with Top Dawg Entertainment singer Zacari, the single is a summery hip-hop anthem, complete with smooth vocals and bouncy beats. Together, the two elements combine to turn “Sometimes” into one of Blxst’s most accomplished and catchy works to date, thanks in parts to its strong melodies and slick instrumentation.

As Blxst explained via YouTube, the track was written in Malibu while vibing with Zacari at the “studio house by the water”, and looks set to be followed up by a new project in the near future. Though he didn’t confirm whether this new project would be another EP, a single, or even a debut album, tracks like “Sometimes” prove that no matter what it is that Blxst gives us, it’s bound to be top-shelf quality.

Blxst’s “Sometimes (feat. Zacari)” is out now.
