Though their planned tour of the country was still a matter of months away, Scottish rockers Simple Minds have today announced their upcoming Australian shows have been rescheduled to the end of 2021.
Announcing their local trek back in November, the group’s tour was set to see the band perform a number of shows in November and December of 2020, including outdoor gigs as part of the A Day on The Green lineup, and indoor headline gigs.
Unfortunately, with the global COVID-19 pandemic wreaking havoc around the world, and putting live entertainment plans on hold for some time, the group have today revealed their upcoming tour has been pushed back a year.
“The frustration of seeing yet more live shows being rescheduled is huge,” explained Simple Minds’ Jim Kerr. “We are determined to make even more effort for our fans in Australia and New Zealand. In the meantime we ask all of you to keep your tickets – and keep the faith.
“We guarantee our live shows will be worth the extra wait. Thanks to all!”
The group’s first tour of Australia since 2017, the rescheduled dates will see Simple Minds joined – as originally intended – by Orchestral Manoeuvres in The Dark, with Eurogliders also appearing at A Day on The Green shows.
Tickets to the forthcoming shows are on sale now, while existing tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled performances.
