Sam Fischer is back with a new track, and this time, he’s gone a little country.

The Australian singer-songwriter leans into twangy territory on his latest single, “Moonshine”, a heartfelt tune about relationships, inspired by time spent in Nashville.

“Writing songs is a weird and funny thing because being totally honest, I just really wanted to write a song called ‘Moonshine’ because I thought it would be a great title,” Fischer says. “I made up a story for it and hopefully when you listen to it, you’re able to relate something from your own life.”

It’s a sonic shift that makes perfect sense for Fischer, who’s been writing in Nashville on and off for the past eight years.

“I’ve been in a perpetual honeymoon phase for the whole time,” he adds. “Not only that but I’ve written for Keith Urban, Kane Brown jumped on a remix of ‘This City’ and I’m touring this year around the world with Brett Young, so it was about time I put a song into the world that honours and gives back the immense amount of love I’ve always been shown there.

“With all that said, time to drink up, cheers to ‘Moonshine!”

“Moonshine” follows his introspective pop single “LOVELIFE”, released back in March.

About “LOVELIFE,” Fischer said, “I wrote ‘LOVELIFE’ about needing to shift that perspective to looking inward for who should be the primary source of my joy and fulfilment… and at the end of the day, the obvious discovery is that it’s always got to be my own self first, as hard as that may be a lot of the time.”

Later this month, Fischer returns to Australia to support Brett Young on his nationwide country tour (dates below).

Sam Fischer’s “Moonshine” is out now.
