After a busy 2024, Australian singer-songwriter Sam Fischer wastes no time diving headfirst into 2025 with his vulnerable and introspective new single, “LOVELIFE”.
The track sees Fischer doing what he does best: delivering soul-stirring pop with substance, anchored in self-reflection and emotional growth.
Written during sessions in the UK and finished with the help of acclaimed mixer Eduardo De La Paz (Nell Mescal, Self Esteem) and mastering engineer Sam Wills (Hanna Wants, Elderbrook), “LOVELIFE” marks Fischer’s first release of the year—and it sets a confident tone for what’s to come.
“I think I’m just guilty as hell of looking for external validation, whether that’s from social media or my personal or romantic life,” Fischer says. “So I wrote ‘LOVELIFE’ about needing to shift that perspective to looking inward for who should be the primary source of my joy and fulfilment… and at the end of the day, the obvious discovery is that it’s always got to be my own self first, as hard as that may be a lot of the time.”
The new single continues a run of deeply personal songwriting that has defined Fischer’s career. His 2021 debut album I Love You, Please Don’t Hate Me amassed over 895 million Spotify streams, powered by his raw lyrical honesty and knack for storytelling.
From early breakthrough “This City”—which spent 11 weeks in the UK Top 20 and went triple platinum in multiple countries—to high-profile collaborations with Demi Lovato, Meghan Trainor, Amy Shark, and most recently Guy Sebastian (“Antidote”), Fischer’s journey has been one of evolution, resilience, and unfiltered humanity.
Now splitting his time between Los Angeles and London, Fischer returned home in 2024 for a short run of sold-out East Coast shows that reminded Aussie fans why he’s one of the country’s most magnetic exports. “I feel like I’m still having to tell people I’m Australian,” Fischer told Rolling Stone AU/NZ at the time. This May, he’s set to return again—this time supporting US country-pop star Brett Young on his Australian tour—details below.
