Just weeks after the release of her debut, chart-topping album, Been Doin’ It for A Bit, Ruby Fields has announced a run of national tour dates which will see her performing in intimate theatres around the country.
Kicking off in February of 2022, the forthcoming tour will see Ruby Fields and her band taking to Brisbane’s QPAC and Sydney’s City Recital Hall, before wrapping up in Melbourne’s Recital Hall in April to showcase cuts from her new album along with a litany of fan-favourites.
As Fields explains, each venue on the forthcoming tour has been specifically chosen to allow her new music to shine and to give fans an experience they won’t soon forget.
“We are incredibly excited to tour the album in the way we always imagined and to give everyone an immersive experience in some beautiful hand-picked theatres,” says Fields. “Hope to see you there.”
The hand-picked venues will allow the songwriting of Been Doin’ It for A Bit to let itself truly be heard and connect with audiences with a series of shows that are bound to be unforgettable. Expect the unexpected when the curtain is raised, revealing Fields at the peak of her career – a songwriter that is as vulnerable as she is powerful.
Speaking of the sort of immersive songwriting at play on the record, Fields refers back to the track “Bottle’o”, which sees her eschewing the festival-ready electric guitars and instead moving over to the upright piano for a surprisingly fragile track which is unlike anything we’ve heard from her before, yet just as exceptional.
“I wrote ‘Bottle’o’ in August 2019 living on the old farm waiting for someone to visit, who never made it,” Fields recalls. “Went to the shops, tried to get money out and couldn’t. I didn’t have my ID so I had to use cash and my passport to buy beers. Got home and wrote a pretty ordinary poem about it in my opinion but then I sat at a piano and just took it from there and now it might be my favourite.”
Of course, it’s this sort of deep introspection and immersive songwriting that will take the centre stage when Fields and her band head out on tour early next year.
Ruby Fields’ debut album, Been Doin’ It For A Bit, is out now via Space 44.
