With eight nominations, Royel Otis lead the pack heading into the 2024 ARIA Awards, while Dom Dolla is in his own lane with six nods.
Also chasing ARIAs glory is Angie McMahon and Kylie Minogue with five nominations apiece, while 3%, Amy Shark, RÜFÜS DU SOL, The Kid LAROI, Tones and I, and Troye Sivan each nab four chances.
The full list of ARIAs nominations was revealed this morning (September 26th) by way of a special livestream hosted by ARIA.
Others aiming for glory include Confidence Man, FISHER, Mildlife, Miss Kaninna, SPEED, and Troy Cassar-Daley, who are each nominated for three awards.
This year’s ARIAs points to a dream scenario for Royel Otis, the Sydney indie duo of Royel Maddell and Otis Pavlovic, who’ve emerged from Ourness, the same creative stable as Genesis Owusu. With a swag of standouts, including “Oysters in My Pocket,” “Sofa King” and “Kool Aid,” the pair have notched more than 9 million followers on Spotify, and were lauded by Rolling Stone AU/NZ as ones to watch in our ‘Future of Music’ series.
The lads were tapped for Spotify’s RADAR program in 2023, and in the year to September 2024 generated 318 million-plus plays on the streamer, and been added to upwards of 8 million Spotify playlists globally.
Their debut Pratts & Pain peaked at #2 on the ARIA Chart and is nominated for Album of the Year, Best Group, Best Independent Release, Best Rock Album, Best Australian Live Act, and more.
For Dom Dolla, the good times roll on as the EDM star scores chances in the categories for Best Solo Artist, Best Dance/Electronic Release, Best Australian Live Act presented by Destination NSW, Song of the Year, and more.
The record industry’s flagship awards night will presented November 20th at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion, which this year celebrates its 100th anniversary, and beamed out live from 5pm AEDT on Stan.
That live stream will be followed by a broadcast on free-to-air Channel 9, with performances and moments living on at the official ARIA YouTube channel.
“Everyone at ARIA is absolutely thrilled to celebrate such an incredible list of commercially successful nominees for 2024, across a huge breadth of genres,” comments ARIA CEO Annabelle Herd.
“It is a list that covers global megastars, touring acts on the brink of world domination and a genuinely exciting group of up-and-coming stars with plenty of buzz.”
All told, 29 categories will be presented, including the 2024 ARIA Hall of Fame inductee Missy Higgins.
