Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever are finally back with new music.

The cult-indie Australian band have released “Sunburned in London,” their first new material since their acclaimed third album, 2022’s Endless Rooms.

The single finds the quintet – Fran Keany, Joe White, Marcel Tussie, and brothers Tom and Joe Russo – at the peak of their powers. Led by Russo’s understated, emotive vocal, its six-minute-plus runtime is bathed in washes of mesmeric guitars and gossamer group vocals that are driven ever onward by the propulsive rhythm section of Tussie and Russo.

It’s a beguiling epic-in-miniature, presenting Rolling Blackouts C.F. at their expansive best in the spirit of hallmarks of the band’s canon from “Fountain of Good Fortune” to “Cars in Space.”

“As a band, we have always made songs about cities. I was thinking about sensory overload and relentless beauty, and the creeping feeling in the streets that the party’s winding up and the lights are about to come on,” Tom Russo explained.

The single is released alongside a beautiful live video shot at Melbourne’s Northcote Theatre, with the band joined by Stella Donnelly, Sophie Ozard, and Julia Wallace on backing vocals and keys. Watch it below.

To celebrate, the band have also announced a Northcote Theatre show on February 17th, with tickets for only $10. Presale starts at 10am (AEDT) on Thursday, February 5th at 10am, before general sale at 12pm (AEDT) on Friday, February 6th. Sign up for presale here.

The band have also hinted at more new music on the way, with the single’s announcement concluding: “Watch this space for more from Rolling Blackouts C.F. as 2026 develops.”

Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever’s 2018 hit “An Air Conditioned Man” was named No. 240 on our Best Australian and New Zealand Songs of the 21st Century so Far list late last year. Described as a “guitar-driven indie rock anthem ready for stadiums,” we wrote: “Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, so often prone to playing on the dreamier side of indie rock, dialled up the guitars on ‘An Air Conditioned Man’.”
