UPDATE (13/1): After two years of waiting, Rod Stewart has been forced to cancel his upcoming tour of the country, only a couple of months out before his rescheduled dates were set to take place.
Initially set to take place in late in late October of 2020, the tour was rescheduled in August of that year, with the new dates set to kick off in March of 2022. Unfortunately, the difficult decision to cancel was made in the wake of the ongoing surge of Covid in Australia, and the reimposition of entertainment venue capacity limits in several states, according to a press release that went out this morning.
“My dear friends, once again I feel we’ve all been cheated by this evil disease, so it is with great regret that I announce my shows for 2022 have had to be cancelled,” Stewart said in a statement. “My thoughts are with all your families at this difficult time as we come out of the joyous and hopefully safe holiday season and I look forward to returning to Australia as soon as the health situation permits.
“I’m absolutely gutted with disappointment and when I do eventually get there we‘ll have the party to end all parties. Guaranteed!”
Though it’s currently unclear when Stewart may end up visiting Australia, Live Nation advises that all ticketholders will receive an automatic refund.

Just two months before Rod Stewart was supposed to arrive on Australian shores for his first local tour since 2015, the acclaimed crooner has now rescheduled his upcoming visit until March of 2022.
First announced back in November, Stewart was scheduled to visit Australia this October, performing a number of headline dates and A Day on The Green appearances. However, following border closures, travel restrictions, and a ban on mass gatherings as a result of COVID-19, these dates were thrown into disarray earlier this year.
Now, Live Nation has revealed that the forthcoming dates will not go ahead as scheduled, with the majority of performances being rescheduled to take place across March and April of 2022.
Unfortunately, the one casualty in the rescheduling of dates comes by way of Canberra, whose Federation Mall show on November 4th was unable to be moved around due to scheduling conflicts.
Tickets to all other performances will be valid for these new dates, while patrons unable to attend can obtain a full refund from the point of purchase, though refund applications must be submitted prior to 5pm on September 1st, 2020.
