Electronic pop pioneers Purity Ring are bringing their live show Down Under for the first time in a decade.
Set to play Hobart’s Dark Mofo and Brisbane’s Open Season festivals in June, the Canadian duo – multi-instrumentalist/producer Corin Roddick and vocalist Megan James – will now also hit up Sydney and Melbourne with headline shows at the Metro Theatre and Northcote Theatre, respectively.
Tickets will go on sale at 10am (AEST) on Wednesday, April 15th – sign up for presale here.
The news arrives with a new single, “lemonlime”, lifted from their self-titled album sessions. The glitch-haze number showcases Purity Ring’s singular sound with dappled percussion and synth flourishes propelled by twinkling arpeggios.
The first song written for their self-titled album, and the last release of this era, “lemonlime” is a song of survival – a sad dream, if you wake up. An extension of the album’s overarching theme and search for goodness in the face of plight, it speaks of caring for someone with chronic illness, imagining a place we can all rest.
Released in September, the album follows themes of letting go, embracing change, and dreaming forward into something freer. It is the most expansive the duo has ever sounded.

Inspired by games like Nier Automata and Final Fantasy X, the record tells the story of two hapless characters – embodiments of MJ and Corin – on a journey to build a kinder world amid the ruins of a broken one.
But this is no escapist fantasy: it is the first step of forbidden dreaming, of imagining a place where the vulnerable are heeded, where grief is spoken aloud and held collectively, where family is a verb rather than a noun, where hope and home can bloom together.
