Australian rock icons Powderfinger are giving fans the chance to test their knowledge of the band’s legacy, launching an online quiz night for next month.
Announced via Instagram today, the upcoming event comes in honour of the band’s impending 20th anniversary of Odyssey Number Five, and arrives at a time when many fans of the group are indeed missing events such as the classic pub quiz.
“To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Odyssey Number Five, Powderfinger have partnered with Quiz Meisters to look back on the history of the band and see what their fans really know,” the official website of the quiz explains. “From Burn Your Name to Bless My Soul, My Happiness to My Kind of Scene, Lemon Sunrise to Sunsets this quiz is gonna cover it all!
“You Don’t Wanna Be Left Out or Let this quiz Roll Right By You, even if you’re not a Powderfinger super fan Who Really Cares? This quiz is for everyone, from new fans to day ones!”
Taking place online at 7:30PM AEST on September 3rd, the event is curated by Powderfinger themselves, and hosted by Quiz Meisters, with registrations for teams open now. The group also urge fans to follow their social media in the coming weeks where they will be sharing a run of “sneaky clues”.

The event takes place one day before the 20th anniversary of the band’s fourth album, Odyssey Number Five. Their second album to top the ARIA charts, the record spawned singles such as “My Happiness”, “My Kind of Scene”, and “Like a Dog”, while it also took out five ARIA Music Awards at the following year’s ceremony.
Just last week, the group announced a special anniversary edition of the record, which will be released as a double LP, while featuring B-sides, acoustic renditions, and covers of bands such as Joy Division, Elvis Costello, and the Psychedelic Furs.
“20 years is a long time ago. Stating the obvious really…but it also seems so recent,” Powderfinger wrote in a statement. “We are honoured that this record is still held in such high esteem for so many people, and the songs are pinned to so many people’s different memories.
“Similarly, the good, the bad and the hilarious memories of the ON5 sessions come flooding back to us when listening to this record.
“We hope that you love this reissue and the extra bits and pieces attached to it. We thank you from the bottom of our little Brisbane hearts for coming along with us for the ride.”
