Phoebe Bridgers is taking fans to the stars for the arrival of her long-awaited third solo album, Lost Weekend.
Ahead of the record’s release through Dead Oceans on Friday, August 14th, Bridgers has partnered with Spotify to host a series of immersive album listening sessions inside planetariums around the globe.
Five locations across Australia and New Zealand will take part, with events scheduled in Auckland, Dunedin, Melbourne, Wellington and Wollongong.
The local screenings will be held at Te Whatu Stardome in Auckland, Tūhura Planetarium in Dunedin, Melbourne Planetarium at Scienceworks, Space Place in Wellington and UOW Science Space in Wollongong. The worldwide event runs from Monday, August 10th until the album’s release on Friday, August 14th, although dates and the number of sessions will vary between venues.
Each session will pair Lost Weekend with one of two specially created visual presentations. One is a custom dome show designed by night-sky photographer Babak Tafreshi, while the other is an immersive laser show created by Laser Fantasy.
The events are listening experiences rather than live performances, and Bridgers will not appear in person. Advance tickets are required through the participating planetariums.
Attendees will also have to surrender access to their phones, smartwatches and recording devices while inside the dome. Devices will be secured in Yondr pouches, which guests will keep with them until leaving the screening area.

The planetarium events form part of an extensive launch week for Lost Weekend. More than 300 midnight release parties will also be held internationally on Thursday, August 13th, including events across Australia and New Zealand.
Lost Weekend is Bridgers’ first solo album since 2020’s acclaimed Punisher, and her third following 2017 debut Stranger in the Alps.
The album’s lead single, “Lost Boys”, arrived in June and marked Bridgers’ first release of original solo material since 2022’s “Sidelines”. Its video, directed by Lance Oppenheim and Pablo Rochat, places Bridgers inside the peculiar world of live-action role-playing at a Renaissance fair.
