Perfume Genius has teamed up with New Zealand singer-songwriter Aldous Harding for a new song, “No Front Teeth,” accompanied by a stunningly strange music video.

The track, which will appear on Perfume Genius’ upcoming album, Glory, is a multi-faceted epic, filled with sudden tempo changes and atmospheric swings from tender folk ballad to resonant alt-rock glory. The video, directed by Cody Critcheloe, not only matches this potent mixture, but injects it with a fresh strain of visual mayhem.

The clip starts with Perfume Genius’ Mike Hadreas splayed out on an ice rink as several onlookers check on him. Harding then appears in a witch hat and a firefighter outfit before the clip cuts to a kitchen where Harding strips down to a sheer white dress and begins to… make waffles. And that only covers the first half, after which there’s a sex scene, a home invasion, and a blue-tinted outro replete with living room wrestling and a make-out session.

“No Front Teeth” marks Perfume Genius’ second offering from Glory following lead single, “It’s a Mirror.” The album is set to arrive on March 28 via Matador and follows 2022’s Ugly Season (which Hadreas originally wrote to accompany a dance piece by choreographer Kate Wallach).

Hadreas made Glory with producer Blake Mills, with whom he also made Ugly Season, 2020’s Set My Heart on Fire Immediately, and 2017’s No Shape. The album also features contributions from longtime collaborator Alan Wyffels, Meg Duffy (Hand Habits), Greg Uhlmann, Jim Keltner, Tim Carr, and Pat Kelly.

Perfume Genius will kick off a North American tour in support of Glory this spring. The trek starts May 12 in Healdsburg, California, and wraps June 27 in Portland, Oregon.
